Christmas Shopping Part 2

Nothing in last week’s post quite right for your loved ones? That’s ok, here are some more.

Like Going Out?

TicketSOUP is a Glasgow Based ticket company, and they sell gift vouchers – ideal for use on Comedy Festival tickets.  There’s a cracking line up this year including Greg Davies, Sarah Millican, John Bishop and Jenny Eclair.  Who doesn’t want something to look forward to at Christmas? The comedy festival is on in March and April.

Or Staying In?

I’ve got two traditionally male recommendations for you – but an awful lot of women would be equally grateful.

The first is Tam’s Drams a new specialist whiskey shop in the west end.  Tam really knows his stuff, and will help you find the right whiskey, at the right price, for the right person.  They do sell online, but why deprive yourself the enjoyment of visiting Tam’s Argyle Street shop? Tell them Girl Monday sent you.

One of the absolute highlights of my week was finding Fyne Ales Minicasks.  I’m a long standing fan of Fyne Ales (especially Avalanche) and would be thrilled to get a minicask for Christmas – even more so if I was going to a house party for new year.  In fact, putting presents aside, one of these would be a brilliant addition to any drinks parties you are planning over the festive season.

Not sure yet?

In that case I have two gift boutiques that will solve your problems, I’ve been to both but I’m going to let two other fans tell you why you should love them as much as we do. Neither has a website (yet) to my knowledge, so you;ll just have to see for yourselves.

The first is La Coco, Merkland Street, Partick.  To quote my friend Wendy “La Coco on Merkland Street have never let me down, they do wonderful, colourful jewellery. The nicest cards around and some silly wee stocking fillers too. Highly recommended”. What can I add to that? One thing, they don’t have website, but here is someone else who agrees.

The second is Ae Fond Kiss, and this time I’m going to quote my sister, from Twitter. “I love Ae Fond Kiss on Queen Margaret Dr, they wrap everything beautifully and have lots of affordable interesting things.” Here is their Facebook page which has photos of some of their range.

A Note on this post:

It’s at this point I’m going to mention that I have no financial ties to any of these people or companies, or those I mentioned last week. I’m not getting commission and I’m not a salesman.  But I am a shopper, and I buy a lot of Christmas presents for, and on behalf of other people.  I’m just passing on the fruits of my research, and hopefully saving you some shoe leather – or more accurately some snow trudging!
